ConExpo sees unveiling of hybrid Volvo loader (30/03/2008)

A new Volvo loader has been unveiled at the 2008 ConExpo. The ConExpo is one of the worlds largest exhibition of construction machinery and equipment, and takes place once every three years in Las Vegas. This year, the ConExpo 2008 took place from March the 11th to March the 15th, and featured, among many other items, the unveiling of a new hybrid Volvo loader. New Volvo loader to be more fuel efficient (31/03/2008)

The L220F Volvo loader has promised to provide fuel savings of up to 10%. The Volvo loader is also expected to provide improved performance. It has been suggested that this hybrid Volvo loader will begin production next year and has a 50kW starter generator.

When sitting relatively idle, the Volvo loader recharges its own batteries. In addition, the Volvo loader offers a great level of functionality in that when extra power is required the motor promises to deliver an extra 50kW of power. When used in the Volvo loader, this extra power can start the machine from an idle state.

It has been reported that Komatsu loaders may be set to face some competition from Caterpillar, the manufacturer of a range of construction machinery and equipment, including Caterpillar loaders. Caterpillar looks as though it may potentially take on rivalling Komatsu loaders in Asia and Russia, where construction equipment and machinery, such as Komatsu loaders, is experiencing increased demand.
